Water & Power
Large data center projects can require substantial electrical capacity and may also use water for cooling and other facility operations. This section will track what is documented about the Kingston Technology Center’s projected water and power needs, along with questions that remain unanswered.
Water Use
The developer’s project website says the facility is expected to request about 100,00 gallons of water per day but use less than 50,000 gallons of water per day. The site describes the proposed cooling system as a closed-loop, meaning water would be recirculated rather than continually discarded. These figures are developer estimates and should be updated if utility agreements or engineering documents provide more precise information.
Power Demand
Public reporting on the project describes a planned electrical load of approximately 150 megawatts. The DRI-related reporting indicates the project would require major electrical infrastructure, including an on-site substation and distribution system. The 150 MW figure describes power demand, not daily energy consumption.
